In later life he composed and arranged many works for wind band, including his masterpiece, the Lincolnshire Posy, based mainly on his meticulous notations of folksongs taken down in the first decade of the twentieth century using an Edison phonograph. Grainger was the first collector in England to make extensive recordings of folksong. The works of Percy Grainger are very diverse, and Grainger often rearranged and recomposed pieces over the course of many years. We therefore list his works alphabetically, with the following information: instrumentation under construction, duration of work and available recording of the work as part of either 'The Percy Grainger Editon' (Chandos Records) or one of many other Grainger.
